Parish History

St. Martin De Porres Othaya Catholic Parish was established in December 1984 after being carved out of Nativity of Our Lady Karima Catholic Parish. At the time of its establishment, the Parish Priest of Karima was Rev. Fr. Morta.

As the Catholic population continued to grow, Othaya Parish became the mother parish of several new parishes:

1987: St. Peter and Paul Kariko Catholic Parish
2009: Our Lady Consolata Birithia Catholic Parish
2026: St. Augustine Kigumo Catholic Parish

Today, the parish continues to serve a vibrant Catholic community through its thirteen outstations, active Small Christian Communities, and pastoral ministries.
