About the Parish

Brief Parish History

St. Augustine Kigogoini Catholic Parish was established following an invitation by the Local Ordinary on 25 January 2010 after the priestly ordination of Br. Simon Mbuthi, OFM Cap, from the Archdiocese of Nyeri. The parish was officially inaugurated on 10 May 2010 by Most Rev. Peter Kairo, Archbishop of Nyeri, after being carved out of Tetu Parish.

Since its establishment, the parish has steadily grown in pastoral ministry and evangelization. The first Parish Priest was Rev. Fr. Andrew Mwaura, who served from 2010 to 2014. He was succeeded by Rev. Fr. Walter Orang’o, who served from 2014 to 2019. Since 2019, the parish has been under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Fr. Moses Mwangi, who continues to guide the parish in its mission of spiritual growth and community development.

Today, St. Augustine Kigogoini Parish continues to strengthen the faith of its members through the celebration of the sacraments, evangelization, and the promotion of Christian values.
