About the Parish
Brief Parish History
St. Charles Lwanga Narumoru Town Catholic Parish was officially established in August 2010 by His Grace Most Rev. Peter Kairo, then Archbishop of Nyeri, to strengthen evangelization and pastoral care for the Catholic faithful in Narumoru Town and the surrounding areas.
The founding Parish Priest was Rev. Fr. Boniface Wandebu, whose vision, dedication, and pastoral leadership laid a strong spiritual and administrative foundation for the newly established parish. Since then, the parish has continued to grow under the leadership of successive Parish Priests, each contributing significantly to the expansion of pastoral ministry, evangelization, sacramental life, and the strengthening of Small Christian Communities.
The parish has been served by:
-
Rev. Fr. Boniface Wandebu
-
Rev. Fr. Wanarua
-
Rev. Fr. Godfrey Gichuki
-
Rev. Fr. Charles Wairagu
-
Rev. Fr. John Kamondo (Current Parish Priest)
The parish has also benefited from committed lay leadership through successive Parish Coordinators:
-
Mrs. Mary Muhoro
-
Mr. Paul Gichuki
-
Mr. Paul Kimani
Today, Narumoru Town Parish comprises 16 local churches, serving as vibrant centres of worship, evangelization, catechesis, and Christian community life. Under the leadership of Rev. Fr. John Kamondo, assisted by Rev. Fr. Simon Njaramba and Rev. Fr. Isaiah Njogu, the parish continues to strengthen Christian families, empower youth, promote stewardship, support catechists and lay leaders, and foster unity among all parishioners.
Inspired by the courageous witness of St. Charles Lwanga, the parish remains committed to proclaiming the Gospel, strengthening faith, and serving God’s people with joy and dedication.
